Weekend madness

What a weekend; the England / Australia game - a monster - the France / All Blacks game - an absolute epic, and then that sinking feeling of raw anxiety 60 minutes into the South Africa / Fiji match. Add between all this a 24 hour regatta, and what you have is some tired, sore, but happy people. I thought I'd get going on this one, particularly since we didn't have a chance to speak yesterday - the pics above are a bit mixed up, but self explanatory. I like the back-lit shot of Jens standing on the pontoon under the flood-light waiting for our boat to emerge from the darkness so that we could sail our shift. It's got a bit of a Viking feel to it, appropriate for someone from Denmark. And I really like the light streaks coming off the flood from behind. The otehr shot of Jens is him at the helm - and I have to admit we were woeful. The wind (what litte of it that there was to begin with) completely died down, and at times we were just drifting imperceptibly on the inky water, the rudder useless - dead calm. When gusts of tiny breeze did show up, it was for a minute of hope or two, and then more drifting. It takes one of these boats about 15 minutes to do one lap of the harbour course, when there is wind; we broke the record for the slowest circuit - one of our laps took an hour and twenty minutes - aargh. Even more aargh when nearing the end of the ordeal at about 3.20 we could hear the shouts of people watching the France / All Blacks game across the water. Instead, we were trying to decide whether we really were moving at all, and if so, in which direction. Well worth the wait though -when I did get in just before the end of the first half, the real fun of the game had not yet begun. The rest are pics of our boat S9 - during the day, the people on the pontoon watching - Courtney Elize and Gracie - Ev having a kip - and Aiden showing what the back of the kit looked like. I'm going to post you my shirt - couldn't get an extra one - and would no-doubt guess the wrong size anyway.
